This rocked so much I started this and read in in a day Absolutely loved it and highly highly recommend I m not going to say too much about the plot because it s such a short book that I don t want to spoil it I will say that it s extremely fast paced and entertaining I devoured it and honestly didn t want it to end I don t know how many times I literally laughed out loud with the banter, but I know my boys were looking at me weird Harker was one of the best characters I ve read in a long time H [...]

Full review over at Fantasy Book Critic OVERVIEW ANALYSIS I m a sucker for urban fantasy books and if they offer something different than the usual morass then that just makes that title to jump ahead in my TBR list Raising Hell by John G Hartness raised my interest with its blurb describing the protagonist as Dracula s nephew who also hunts demons As far as premises go, that s not a bad one but none too original either I decided to give it a shot based on the first chapter I read. For most folks [...]

I liked the idea of this one and there was nothing wrong with the actual plot, which was interesting I liked Uncle Luke, aka Dracula, and his latest manservant Renfield who is very amusing and entertaining. My problem is that I didn t much like Quincy himself Frankly he is so foul mouthed that he is saying some variation of fuck every time he talks, and when he gets annoyed, every second word is fuck Now I don t mind swearing for effect in books but I was disappointed that the swearing was there [...]

when I first started reading this book, I thought, Oh, God, not another second rate Dresden Files rip off BUT Then I got hooked by the plot and the swearing I respect a character that isn t afraid to call the hero F nuts to his face Then I got started laughing at the dialogue again, F nuts you gotta love it Then I started reading lines out loud to my sister and my daughter Then I ran out of book only forty minutes worth of reading Waaaah and went to to find stuff by Hartness, because any writer [...]

Audible Edition I rarely give a five star rating to a novella but I couldn t give anything less than five stars for this one I, like so many other reviewers, was afraid that this was going to be a knock off of the Sandman Slim series or The Dresden Files but, I am happy to tell you, it s not Quincy Harker has his own unique voice and he is one foul mouthed, quick tempered bad assed motherfucker with his own brand of justice and moral turpitude The story is good, the humor is dark, there is an ec [...]

If you like supernatural reading and vampires, you will love this series.

Just as enjoyable and entertaining as the first time I listened to this story This series is addicting It s definitely worth your time and credit You will not be disappointed This is one of those series that you will listen to repeatedly The writing, characters and story just draw you in immediately You know as soon as it starts you are in for one heck of fun, very entertaining and highly enjoyable story Even though it s a shorter story it doesn t feel like it It s packed full of mystery, suspen [...]

WOW This is a new to me author and I am thrilled to have found him.Ouincy Harker is the nephew of Count Dracula, for real He s also a kick ass, take no prisoners, demon hunter In this story he is trying to find vengeance for a 15 year old girl that was possessed and impregnated by a demon who was summoned by a frat boy Getting in his way at every turn, and not beliving a word of what he says, is a gold shield detective named Flynn She s as non believing aabout demons as you can get Throw in a ho [...]

I found it very entertaining Books based on Demon Hunters come in all shapes and sizes This one has Dracula s nephew, that adds a ton of possibilities This novella isn t for sensitive ears, but suits the main characters personality This fast paced tale has lots of violence and lots of dark humour I enjoyed it and will check out some works from this author.

IREALLY enjoyed this book James Foster does a fine job narrating.Quincy is a nephew of Dracula. His uncle bails him out of jail and trouble as needed. He has a guardian angel, who takes different forms. It s a fun read I was given this book free for an honest review.

Not sure how they counted 110 pages It s way less than that Anyway, as a short story it is a great read as long as you don t mind the main character too much I would say the book is something like supernatural, but with just one brother.

Dresden but darkerDresden and Constantine had a baby and his name is Harker The world is Constantine with a little Van Helsing anime thrown in The writing style and smartass sips is pure Dresden Pretty good, but way too staight forward.

So, this was the first and I didn t love it Q s language attitude were just too dark for me That said, I read these first five back to back and by the end I was loving the characters and the stories So although I didn t love this one, keep reading, they get pretty great

3.5 stars rated up because it made me laugh A quick book, full of quirkiness Enjoyable

I am a sucker for foul mouthed, belligerent, all out of f s to give, but hearts of gold male protags in my urban fantasy I m not talking romantic leads That s a whole other something something If a guy is a monster hunter, like Quincy Harker in Raising Hell, then they need to be as scary, or scarier, than the big bads they hunt I also don t want a drawn out story They go in, kick ass, and go home The end This is one reason I love comic books with this type of character Cal MacDonald from Crimina [...]

My original Raising Hell audiobook review and many others can be found at Audiobook Reviewer. At first glance and after the first few minutes of listening I thought Raising Hell was going to be very similar in nature to the Sandman Slim series Well, really the only thing similar here was the voice choice of the narrator James Foster I tend to really enjoy paranormal detective mysteries so I had pretty high hope for this title.Quincy Harker is the nephew of Count Dracula, yes, the Count Dracula Ha [...]

Enjoyable in a tongue in cheek sort of way The idea of a badass vampire hunter with foul language is pretty well done, here, but off kilter enough to keep you entertained A few pop culture references are spattered throughout, but not enough to make it weighty It feels or less like something that should have been written for an episodic TV show, but not in a bad way So great for what it is, and I ll probably continue the series, shortly.

When I came across this title, I knew I had to get it The description really appealed to me I enjoyed Jim Butcher s Dresden Files and thought this would be similar I was right, it is similar to Butcher s series but I was also wrong I didn t like it, I loved it The only thing I didn t like was it s length It is a novella and runs just over two and a half hours I enjoyed it so much I didn t want it to end. There are so many things I loved about this story Quincy Harker, the main character, has att [...]

Raising Hell is good old fashioned pulp fiction It was fast paced, short, easy to read and a lot of fun Every character is a walking cliche but they are put together in such a way for that to be a positive rather than a negative Basically, I m saying I really enjoyed this one Quincy Harker is the son of Johnathan and Mina Harker from the pages of Bram Stoker s Dracula Because his parents had both tasted the blood of Dracula, Quincy turned out to be part vampire, just without the drawbacks He s s [...]

An Awesome Beginning to a New Series, Loved it Oh hell yeah Raising Hell was an awesome story I love, love, love the protagonist, demon hunter Harker and his not give a hoot attitude This story had excellent world building and a fun, exciting, plot This was so good that I listened straight through Also it was a novella but it kept me on the edge of my seat.I loved when he had no choice but to summon Asmodeus and the barbs they gave each other were great I m really excited about this becoming a s [...]

Raising Hell is a fun and entertaining read The story is short and fill with lot of actions and conflicts The story begins with Quincy Harker looking into a demon possession of a teenager What he discovered is that the demon was not possessing the teenager but eating her soul as it overtakes her body He followed one lead to another lead which he ended up with a confrontation with a very powerful wizard I love Quincy Harker with his attitude and foul mouth of swearing, demon hunter Dracula does m [...]

Quincy Harker, son of Johnathan and Mina Harker, nephew of Dracula, is a Demon Hunter Yes, you heard me right Blessed with Extraordinary powers to handle Demons, including strength, speed, magic and sharp wits, he has yet to run into something he can t handle Until now, it seems He has to deal with an evil magic user while having to fend off the local cops as well, which is actually a trademark of all the John Hartness books I ve read The characters in this book are all engaging, especially Quin [...]

Another incredibly strong piece of work from Mr HartnessWith a hardboiled sensibility, a fatalistic abandon and a no punch pulled attitude Hartness s latest character s first outing is a fun romp through what has become my favorite genre Harker reminds me of early Harry Dresden, but far less conflicted Showing a hard own and deft hand at foreshadowing, Hartness spins a modern detective drama I could easily see Bogart playing the lead in Maybe this should be called urban noir fantasy It is a wond [...]

I m not much of a horror fan, but John Hartness s take on horror is not exactly the usual stuff Even in this, which is clearly not as light hearted as his Bubba The Monster Hunter series, he doesn t take his horror all that seriously Quincy Harker is a demon hunter who knows his stuff He comes by it naturally, given that Dracula is his uncle He doesn t seem to be all that sure about the existence of God, but he s on speaking terms with his Guardian Angel. So, even though there is enough blood, go [...]

Okay I m officially addicted to the foul mouthed, ass kicking, cheeky, immortal devil hunter that is Quincy Harker The guy s gotta be cool if he has THE Dracula as his uncle right This series of books are novellas and are a very quick read that grab you by the goolies or whatever appropriate female part and take you on an exciting, fast paced ride that doesn t let up until the end.I don t normally read urban fantasy but anything that makes you laugh out loud like this is money well spent.

for full review go to wp p5Q4Dh fAThis series is an awesome quick read It s totally worth your time and money John Abraham Quincy Holmwood Harker is one bad ass demon hunter He is the son of John Mina Harker but was conceived when Mina was turned by Dracula for that short bit of time Quincy is immortal due to Dracula s blood and human due to Mina Jonathan Q has a name for Dracula and that is uncle I m not sure how this amicable relationship ever began, but Q claims Dracula is a converted bad guy [...]

This was an entertaining novella about a no nonsense, long lived demon hunter named Quincy Harker He is kind of a biker type or good ol boy, and his language profanity reflects that He has a soft spot for innocents, but little patience or political delicacy for well intentioned fathers or cops who stand in his way One interesting twist is the protagonist s relationship with Dracula, which would be interesting to read about I definitely plan to read the next installment.

This was just plain fun There is something here that hooked me It was dark, and full of sarcasm It gets a little left wingy at times which I could do without, I just thought it was the writer being a bit snarky The story did not need jabs at Fox News to have a good story Also, there was one VERY long and protracted Latin section I could have done without But as for the story and the characters, all top notch and I will be digging in to this series in the very near future.

Quincy Harker is the nephew of Dracula, has his own guardian angel, annoys the everything out of a local police detective, meets the government backup, and wreaks vengeance on demons and black magic users He gets called in by a parent to exorcize the daughter, and it all goes south from there Colorful language and lots of snarky humor make this a good read.
